2017 Invivo Central Otago Pinot Noir
2017 Invivo Central Otago Pinot Noir $40 Central Otago dreaminess! Think black cherries and plum with vanilla and silky tannins. Rob Cameron is the winemaker and co-founder of Invivo Wines. Invivo is about taking some of the elegance from the old world and putting that style into our amazing grapes, all the while offering vintages that are fun and a bit unique. Rob has a ‘colourful’ winemaking background, learning his craft in unique destinations such as Moldova, Cyprus, Bulgaria and Hungary before moving to France, Spain and Italy. He learnt skills from these places that few could compare. He’s passionate about making Invivo with a hands-on production style with all our wines. These are his thoughts on the 2017 Invivo Central Otago Pinot Noir. \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"The wine draws its power from vineyards in Bannockburn and Gibbston Valley. With all our wines we try and work with sub-regions that have defined and strong personalities - the trick is to get them to come together and create something magical! In 2017, the vintage conditions allowed us to celebrate each parcel but also bring them together harmoniously to create a delicious, alluring Pinot Noir with power, depth and finesse. Enjoy now or hide away from yourself and you will be rewarded over the next ten years.\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"
2017 Chard Farm Mata-Au Pinot Noir
Chard Farm Mata-Au Pinot Noir 2017 $55 Winemakers comments: Our Mata-Au vineyards are located in the Lowburn and Parkburn areas of the Cromwell basin. The vineyards are planted on the terraces and alluvial schist based soils formed by the Mata-Au (Clutha) River (pronounced – martar-o). The unique combination of site, soil and mild continental climate produces perfumed wines with elegant texture, structure and mineral length. It is made from the best blocks in our best vineyards in the Lowburn/Parkburn subregion. Mata-Au showcases the succulent red fruits and silky tannins that are the hallmarks of this sub-region, delivered in our elegant, textural and length driven style. Wine description: Displaying an enticing perfume of red berry and cherry fruits alongside herbal notes of lavender and black tea, the aromas are pushed to a heady crescendo by the flinty like mineral tones that lurk in the background. The palate is seductively silky and offers a wonderful expansive and lucid purity. The freshness of the red berry and herb cocktail gives poise to the mineral and persistent finish.
