Ghost Rock SV 2022 Bonadale Pinot Noir $64

One of Tasmania’s pioneering grower-producers. Over 20 years the Arnold family have almost single-handedly created the Cradle Coast wine region of Northern Tasmania. Every vineyard hand-built, hand-planted, to the exact specifications - no compromise, no concession. The Estate now spans 27 hectares of high density, hand-tended vineyards, mostly comprised of Pinot Noir, with significant plantings of Chardonnay and Pinot Gris in behind. Additional plantings are now in planning. Under the stewardship of second-generation Winemaker Justin Arnold, and his wife Alicia Peardon, Ghost Rock’s portfolio is driven by wines of depth, sophistication and intensity. Strictly estate grown. Strictly estate bottled. Minimal intervention focused. The Bonadale Vineyard is our most elevated vineyard, delivering fruit of great layering and sophistication. This is a wine for people who really do love Pinot Noir. It just seems to capture the heart and soul of the variety. 2022 Bonadale Pinot Noir The Bonadale Vineyard is our highest and most sun-exposed. Fruit for this wine was selected from 2 clones – D4V2 and 115. Both clones are intensely aromatic, powerful clones. These clones represent the ripest fruit from our ripest plot. Vines were heavily de-leafed following veraison. Fruit was 100% destemmed and cold soaked for 14 days prior to wild fermentation. Following fermentation, the wine was matured in first-class French oak barriques, 38% new. This wine is unfiltered and unfined.

Initially 1ha of Pinot clones were planted these vines form the foundation of the very successful Kelvedon Estate Label. Our first hectare of vines were planted in 1998, and the success of the viticulture enterprise has resulted in expansion over the years to 9 hectares in full production. Half of our vintage is sold under contract to Accolade Wine of which the fruit is made into sparkling wine for the House of Arras Range. The balance of the production is produced for our own label which can be found in restaurants and bottle shops throughout Tasmania and Melbourne. PINOT NOIR 2022 A smooth elegant wine swimming in flavours and aromas of black cherries and dark chocolate. The accompaniment of these flavours combined with the fine balance of tannins and french oak create a wine that is full of intense layers of flavour that remain on the palate.
