Grey Sands 2015 Pinot Noir $60

When you buy a bottle of Grey Sands wine from our Tamar Valley vineyard, you are joining our quest to push the boundaries of our understanding of wine. From our earliest endeavours we set out to produce wines, not to please everyone (which flattens and homogenizes wines) but rather to excite the senses. What you will experience with a glass of Grey Sands wine is the discovery of wine that is concentrated, complex, intriguing and sometimes confronting. Wines that you will want to share, to discuss, debate and enjoy with good company. We know our wines need cellaring..so we cellar them for you and only release them when we think they’re approachable. That’s why our current releases have a few years age on them… ready to be enjoyed! Grey Sands Vineyard is one of the most unique Tamar Valley vineyards, striving to be different from the rest. Tasting notes: Mid red with garnet hue. This wine has developed an intriguing bouquet that combines savoury and fruit aromas. The palate shows tight structure with tannins and acidity that make for a food-friendly wine. Try pairing this wine with duck, quail or chicken cacciatore. This wine may throw a harmless natural deposit with time.

Native Point 2015 Pinot Noir $40

Native Point vineyard is situated on the Swan Bay peninsula of the Tamar Estuary in North East Tasmania. The 5 ha vineyard with its unique microclimate supports balanced vine growth and allows selective harvest of parcels of fruit at optimal flavour ripeness and natural acidity. Low yields and long, slow ripening conditions result in wines with distinctive varietal intensity, elevated fruit spice and mineral complexity. WINE MAKING NOTES: Bunches destemmed, whole berries left to cold soak for 7 days. Open top fermenters with regular plunging, immersing the skins to gently extract colour and tannins. Half of the batch was wild yeast, the other half inoculated followed by seven day fermentation. Aged in a mix of old and new French oak barrels for 10 months. Cellared in bottle for 48 months before release Tasting Notes: 2015 Pinot Noir For fans of the bigger, bolder style of Pinot. This wine comes from the Native Point/Swan Bay site on the eastern side of the Tamar River. Block 6 is the jewel in the crown of this special site. Three French Dijon clones grown here are complimented by 10% MV6, small bunches and berries that add extra colour and backbone to this wine. 2015 was an excellent vintage in Tasmania. It produced very high quality fruit with lower than average yields. All handpicked fruit. Matured in French oak for 12 months. This wine has silky smooth tannins, plenty of intensity and fruit concentration. This ruby coloured wine has a lovely aged, savoury character that only comes from time in bottle.
