December 2024 Releases: Freycinet Vineyard 2023 Pinot Noir $70 & Freycinet Louis 2023 Pinot Noir $42
Freycinet Vineyard 2023 Pinot Noir $70

We are delighted to share with you our stunning new vintage of our flagship Freycinet Pinot Noir.

Densely fruited, with a distinctive interplay of plush mouthfeel and Freycinet's hallmark tannin structure, this an unmissable release of a Tasmanian wine icon. Capturing the essence of our unique amphitheatre site, the low yields of this vintage have delivered superb concentration and layers of glorious fragrance which unfurl with time in the glass.

Freycinet Vineyard’s good name and reputation for Pinot Noir has developed over more than 40 years of producing fine Pinot Noir from our distinguished site. We are proud of the many accolades, awards and recognition Freycinet Pinot Noir has received over the decades.

It gives us immense joy to hear from customers about their magnified drinking pleasure experienced after opening special bottles of Freycinet Pinot Noir from their cellars. Our relatively warmer, drier amphitheatre site creates a more structured, robust style of Pinot Noir that lends itself very well to cellaring.

The 2023 vintage brought lower than average yields and cooler conditions throughout the growing season. Fruit quality was excellent with small bunches and berries providing superb concentration of flavours, fine supple tannins and good acid balance.

Fully ripened fruit is handpicked for this wine from our original 1979 plantings of  predominately own rooted G5V15 clone. 100% whole berry fermentation provides impressive fruit weight and elegant, supple tannins. Matured in French oak barriques (25% new) for 11 months on fine lees.

The hallmarks of power, concentration, complexity and length feature in this wine. Alluring aromas of spice and macerated cherries, ripe raspberries and plums combine with a subtle floral perfume of rosehip, truffle and undergrowth. The vibrant palate is silken and detailed, offering an abundance of exotic spice,  pomegranate and sour cherry flavours intermingled with subtle oak nuances, svelte mineral tannins and a satiny mouthfeel. Silky texture and gamey, intriguing forest floor characteristics will further develop with careful cellaring over 10 to 15 years.

A magnificent wine reflecting the unique terroir of a very special site.

Winemaker’s Notes
The 2023 vintage reveals itself in this wine through its wonderfully
concentrated black cherry and berry flavours, combining seamlessly with
subtle truffle nuances, a soft round texture and great length. 30% whole
bunch inclusion during fermentation further adds to the wines vibrant
flavours, supple mouthfeel and juicy finish, giving it immediate appeal,
and making it ideal for enjoying whenever a delicious wine is called for!
About Freycinet Vineyard
Geoff and Susan Bull were early viticultural pioneers on the East Coast of
Tasmania, establishing Freycinet Vineyard in 1978. The vineyard is situated
adjacent to the stunning and wild Freycinet Peninsula, which is named in
honour of French explorer Louis de Freycinet who charted the region in
1802. The 16 hectare vineyard is proudly family owned and farmed, and
the wines are 100% grown, produced and bottled on the estate. The
warm, sheltered site produces distinctive wines which reflect the unique
location within Tasmania's cool climate. All wines are produced with great
care, dedication and passion and are a delicious liquid expression of our
unique place on earth, the varieties and the season.
